OUR STORY
1st Generation Family-Owned Small Business
What started as a few backyard chickens and a family garden in 2019 quickly turned into more than we could eat or give to friends! We love to work hard and eat well, which naturally flows into raising healthy meats, eggs, fruits, and vegetables. Now a family of four, we are especially excited to teach our daughters the value of hard work and giving back to our community.
ABOUT TOWHEE FARMS
When we first bought this property in the Spring of 2019, we would often hear our favorite bird, the Eastern Towhee, singing in our woods. Over the next three years, we settled in and put down roots, eventually growing into a small farm that we named after our local towhees. We currently work five beautiful acres, including a vegetable garden, a variety of berries, muscadine grapes, chickens and pigs. We produce our own compost and chicken litter, which we use to fertilize our garden in the offseason. All of our chickens are pasture-raised and our pigs live in the woods, where they can forage in their natural habitat. Our heirloom Datil peppers, grown from seed passed down through generations of our family, make delicious sauces, rubs, and jellies. We are excited to share our healthy and delicious products with our community!
PASTURE-RAISED MEATS AND EGGS
All of our livestock are pasture-raised, which gives them access to green grass, sun, shade, bugs, and fresh air. This produces happy, healthy animals and ultimately nutritious and flavorful meat and eggs. In addition to foraging for grass and bugs, our chickens and pigs enjoy high-quality locally produced feed from Tucker Milling in Guntersville, AL.
